Langkawi Holiday 2009- Day 1

2009, May 28, Thursday

Our second holiday, for the year 2009, is to Langkawi, Malaysia. My hubby came home from another job and started planning for a holiday, already. This time, he wanted to get away for a little longer and a little different. He had Langkawi in mind and made all the necessary arrangements. We were going to leave for Langkawi on the 22nd May and be home on the 26th May 2009.
This was going to be the first time the boys were going to be travelling by plane. Immanuel had actually taken a flight before, when he was 1 year old. But unfortunately, he remembers nothing about that. We were worried very much about Ivan. We have been cautioned about how autistic kids react to the taking off and landing of the plane. I traveled by other means all this while because of this "fear". However, we decided that we had to face our fears. I prepared him, by talking to him about the trip. How we would take the taxi to the airport, after which we would take the plane all the way to Langkawi.

So after all the packing and cleaning that only mummy can seen to do. We all left for the airport. We l
eft for the airport earlier, so that we could have tea at the airport and walk around the duty free shops (my favourite pastime).

After walking around, particularly in and out of all the shops there, we lingered until it was time to board the plane.
I needed to pick up a new bottle of perfume, as I didn't pack any. I was looking for my very nice bottle of Dior Addict, but was disappointed, when I couldn't get it. Apparently they no longer carry Dior Addict. Now they only carry Dior Addict 2. I was not happy, as its not the same scent.
So I went sniffing around for another scent. After much sniffing, I bought myself "Daisy" from Marc Jacobs. Hmmmmm, berry berry nice.... While I was sniffing at the Duty Free Store, the boys occupied themselves outside, doing tree trunk rubbings. I thought that it was a brilliant idea. With wives and mummies, taking time to decide on their purchase, the husbands and the rest of the family needed something to keep them occupied.

Ivan was r
ather fascinated with this pot with water coming out of it. He stood there for a while mesmerized with the flow of water. Immanuel on the other hand was more interested in the orchids that were there.

The boys were beginning to get restless, so after I bought my perfume. We headed for the entrance. Here you see two excited boys viewing the plane that they are about to get on.

So, now we are in and awaiting to board the plane, while mummy and daddy fill out the immigration forms, the boys whip out their PSPs and start playing. The boys are so hooked up with their PSPs, personally, I am not in favour of this. But the kids nowadays just seem to prefer interacting with machines than people.

Okay, now it's time to get onto the plane. And we are on our way to Langkawi, Malaysia. You will see that the boys are busy looking all around even before we get there.

Now, we are in the plane.... And the boys don't look that impressed yah. They both look around and sit tight as the plane should take off soon. Ivan looks around, doesn't say much. After a while, he resumes his "Ah Pek" position to prepare himself for a comfortable flight.

Now the plane is taking off, okay, it feels a little funny.. I guess its nice... my ears feel weird...

We had a good flight. All was well, Ivan was
occupied by the toys that he brought along. We managed to get two window seats, one for each boy. Occasionally, Ivan would look out of the window, but he didn't seem very impressed with his window seat though. As we were about to land, I got Ivan to look out into the wonderful lights in the night. The entrance of the airport, seemed like we were landing in someone's backyard. This was going to be a very private island. Well, we have kick-started the holiday. But for tonight it wouldn't be much, just settling down into the hotel room.
We checked in, and ordered room service as we were starving. I unpacked and we sat to have dinner in our room, while daddy decided what we were going to do tomorrow.

It's a GIRL

2009, May 19, Tuesday

My son's teacher had just had a baby girl. Lots people I know are poppin these days. I wanted to get her something personal and nice. She had done so much for my baby Ivan, that I really owe her. She is such a nice person that she goes all out to help her students.

I decided that I would make her a diaper cake, yes me! I was going to give it a shot. I went shopping with the boys and got all the necessary "ingredients". It was a great day, that we spent together. But I had forgotten to take pictures. Can you believe it, we had a great outing and I missed the opportunity to take pictures.

Anyway, I can home tired with all my shopping bags and rested a while. Later, I started to get creative. A Whallah! my creation. I was very happy with the end product. I delivered the diaper cake to her house on Monday, and she LOVED it! I was so inspired that I am gonna do much more.

Daddy's home...

2009, May 19, Tuesday

My hubby came home last night, and yeah it was about time. The boys were excited but I had to send them to bed, as there would be Exams tomorrow. He bought a bottle of Cafe Boheme, a coco based drink with vodka. I so don't like vodka, but that wasn't a problem as he was very happy with his new drink. As for me I guess I will just stick to wine.

We got up early this morning, while hubby got Immanuel ready and off to school. I did the same old, same old housework. Melissa came over for Ivan's tuition, but didn't do much. He was rather distracted as daddy was home, he discovered this as 3am.

As for my hubby, first things first, he had to fix his hair. Each time he comes home, he has to fix his hair. Well, I guess I have spoilt him. I used to pester him to get his hair styled and coloured. And now he has taken on that habit. Well its all good I guess.

A one of a kind mother's day celebration...

2009, May 10, Sunday

I had already sent my mum a hamper before today, so that was taken care of. I got up this morning, feeling tired and lazy. I had thought to bring the boys out today, but wasn't sure. I hate crowded places trying to find a seat.

But instead, I found myself settling some accounts this morning. After that I just got the spur to clean up my boys room. Eversince I started my home-based business, I have been working from all over the house. It was beginning to irritate me. Even from before, I had to always do up my environment before I could work well. And well that still haven't changed, even after 6 years. I decided that I would take over Ivan's room as my office. It had a door and it would definitely keep unwanted chaos out. I did the whole works, shifting furniture, cleaning, mopping and even doing the windows before I put up the curtains. I wanted to have a cozy and soft environment to work in. From there, I went on and on, until the energy in me was still sustaining.

Once I was done, I threw out alot of rubbish and took a nice shower. Now I am enjoying a HUGE slice of Mango Cake that my sis brought for me this morning. She had bought it for my mum, but was sweet enough to bring me some. The cake is so heavenly, the mango is so fresh and firm. Juicy yet tender. The rest of the cake, well that's just gonna make me fat. But after all that work I did, I can afford to binge tonight.

Oh yes, a very sweet present that I received today. No not from my boys, they just wished me. But Ida from next door gave me a small pot of orchids. I was so touched. In the late morning, she was preparing a new pot of lime green orchids that they had just bought last night. I told her how I adore opening my front door to the sight of her beautiful orchids. Later in the afternoon, she surprised me with a little pot of one. I was touched, yet excited. This was one of the times when the thought that counts. It was such a nice gesture. Okay, I am really exhausted, so I am stopping for now. Happy Mother's Day, 2009.

It's been a while...

2009, May 02, Saturday

I have taken a long absence from writing. Well, partly I was in a situation where I had many important decisions to make. I felt that this year would be a good year to go into business. I sourced out a few of my options and waited (and prayed) to see which was a good investment. Amongst the few projects, I had a tuition center and hamper & gift that I had narrowed down to.

You would think that people would be keen to answer you, when you are investing in their business. But to my surprise, both of these businesses, took their own time to get back to me. One just kept dragging, while the other wanted me to be a sleeping partner. I was about to just give it up and keep the money, when my sister encouraged me to do something myself.

Initially, I simply brushed aside the idea. I didn't want to do all the research and start all that hard work while my baby was facing a crossroad. As I continued praying, the answer was clear. I could not seem to be holding on to wait any longer. The Lord, gave me a gentle shuff ahead.

With Him leading, my way I decided that I was going to do something on my own. My family used to say that I was good with my hands. Plus, I truly enjoy any kind of art work. It's kinda my stress relief. So, I started to read up as much as I could. Got some help from wonderful sis. When we work we kinda compliment each other.

So, thus, the Birth of "Beloved Rock". I am truly excited about it. I know that I am a newcomer and that there are lots of competitors out there. But hey, if I didn't try I would never know.

Plus, my darling, darling hubby has been so sweet to encourage me along. He is my advisor and financier. Even if he doubted me, he would never show it. Truly, I would say that marrying him was a dream, and ever since then, he made my ambitious dreams come true.

I am now enjoying, working from home. I can be with my boys at home, plus work from home. I just needed to start work, as I was starting to lose my identity. I don't want to grow old and cranky like the housewives of yesteryear's. Will definitely try to share more soon.

60 minutes...

2009, April 02, Thursday

I was eager to take this opportunity to teach my boys something about saving the earth. We all looked forward to the 60 minutes lights out on Saturday. I didn't have to worry about candles, as I would have ample supply at home, since I love to light them.

Around 8.15pm I went around the house placing the candles in strategic positions. This was to ensure that the boys could see their way around should they need to move around. After that, we went around lighting the candles, it was fun. We all snuggled up in the TV room and watched TV for an hour in the candle light. After the news announced the various places that took part in the lights out, we were so happy that we could be a part of this movement.

I hope that when my boys grow up, they will cherish and remember these fun memories that we once shared. Even better should they live green lifestyles.

I am very proud to be apart of this movement to safe the earth. My hubby who wasn't so thrilled in the beginning, suggested that we should do this on a weekly basis.

Food Poisoning...

2009, March 27, Friday

I have just reached home, feeling very weak and lifeless, still...

Last night, after watching TV with my hubby we went off to bed, not knowing what was going to hit us in a few hours time. I did highlight to my hubby that I feel some kind of pain in my tummy. But I figured that it would go away when I awoke the next day (foolish thinking).

I toss and turn the whole night, around 1.30am I got up and headed for the toilet hoping to ease myself. I ended up throwing up and almost passed out from the pain. Subsequently, I kept going for the toilet almost every hour after that. Until around 5.30am when I decided that I had better admit myself in a hospital. I called my hubby who was getting ready for work, and told him to call for my mum to come over to watch the kids as we went to the hospital.

My mum lived across the street so, she reached within 10 mins of calling her. Just before I left, I had to threw up again. Lots of thoughts went through my head. Who would take care of the kids should I be in admitted in hospital? Along with that I was thinking, that the bright side to this very painful situation, was that I actually stood a chance of losing weight.

We got into the cab and went straight on. The A & E experience was such a horrible one. However, in the midst of the ugliness, I saw a true nurse. She was a young, Malay nurse, probably a trainee, I guess. She was so cheerful and showed genuine concern, while the other nurses acted blur pretty much. She was very admirable as far as I am concern. I shared this experience with my hubby. Just then, the lady next to my bed started yelling at her asking why the doctors were taking forever. The lady yelled so much that the poor girl's face changed so much and than she looked very upset. After that incident she kept very much to herself as she worked. Soon after I went up to the ward. I thought to myself, this must be what happened to all the good nurses. It isn't fair yelling and venting your anger at a nurse when its the doctors who make the decisions. Also, the nurses are the ones that care for the patients. Doctors merely see you for about 5 mins the most, and get the payment.

Now I am feeling a bit better but I have to be very cautious of what and how much I eat.
